Survival - New and Improved Weaponry

We haven't had a Survival thread for awhile, so I thought I'd get one
going...

The last few years have seen the introduction of so-called "AirSoft" guns to
the market. These are very realistic copies of real firearms which fire 6mm
plastic pellets using either "hop-up" enhanced spring power, or compressed
air. A wide variety of these guns exist; they're sold on eBay and at
sporting goods outfits for anywhere from $10 to $200. Depending on quality
and power system, they have an accurate range from 25 to 75 yards. Go to
eBay and type "airsoft" in the search field for a sample of what's out
there.

Some AirSoft guns are FULLY AUTOMATIC. I own a battery-powered copy of the
MP5 submachine gun which spits out four rounds a second, and (as Lenny can
attest) will shred paper targets at a decent range.

More recently, they've developed 6MM PAINT PELLETS to be used in these guns.
They work just like their big brothers -- when they hit a hard target, they
splatter, and leave a quarter-sized colored stain. These pellets usually
cost $8 for a tube of 200.

I personally believe that if we ever play Survival again, we should junk
those crappy Marksman BB pistols and buy ourselves a brace of AirSoft guns
and paint pellets. Each member gets a sidearm, and, fire-team style, each
group designates one person in charge of a fully automatic weapon (this
makes it more challenging than if we all had SMGs and just splattered the
hell out of the field and each other). These guns have a bit more power and
range than the BBs, but aren't as dangerous, since they use plastic
projectiles.

Plus, wouldn't you LOVE to be the designated machine-gunner, and get to
spray John's silly East Germany border-guard uniform with red-dye bullets?
I know I would...
