I received the official word in the mail today.
I have been formally accepted into the Teacher's Credential Program at CSUN.
I realize that I sort of made this announcement to a few of you offline back on July 11. That was premature. What happened then was that I had passed the appeal process to allow me to still be in the running after my initial rejection. What followed was a group interview. Only after completing that could I be formally accepted.
I register next Thursday, and I believe that I begin classes in the final week of this month.
In addition, I have been retained to substitute teach at Malibu High School this fall.
I am happy to say that I have an excellent relationship with Dr. Mike Matthews, the principal..and a much-improved relationship with my old nemeses in the District.
Based on what I have been told, if I play my cards right, and work hard in my credential classes, it is highly possible that I could have a long-term sub position there in fall '03. And I could be a fully tenured teacher at that great school by 2004.
Call me a late bloomer. But it appears like I will be a professional at the age of 48. Guess that the Elf had to grow up sometime :)
Thanks for all of the advice and support!!!! :)
