Subject: [OliveStarlightOrchestra] I have a job!

The subject line says it all. I am tired, after the long day today,
so I will not go into great detail...

(But of course, as you know me so well, I will go into more detail
than you care to know about.)

The company name is First Quadrant, and they are located in Pasadena.
My primary task is involved with "Research". Lisa Plaxco works for
them, and she recommended me to them a few months ago.

I had first gotten an email from them in mid-August. After some phone
tag, I interviewed with this company in mid-October. It seemed to go
well. Then not a word for weeks!

Then some email and phone calls again, all of them positive.

Then just last Friday night, while checking email at an out-of-town
cafe, I got an email worded like an offer to start working with them.

Then a little more phone tag until Tuesday, when they asked if I
could start THE NEXT DAY. Of course I said that I could, and got a
very early start this morning. A long day.

It looks like a great place to work. I will start out part-time, so
there will still be tutoring, but less of it.

I called Santa Monica College this morning to warn them that I would
be late today at the language lab. When I got there, I was told that
people showed up at the usual time looking for me. Some even waited
an hour. But today I was two hours late! It broke my heart a
little. :-( I cannot do anything to help it: It was strictly
volunteer work, and now that I have a real paying job, the tutoring
will have to be scaled back.

  John
