Dude, fess up. How many looters did you hire? If I see you selling
ancient Babylonian parchments...

Anyway.

Tokyo circa 1945 wasn't flattened like, say, Hiroshima. Their
infrastructure remained intact. Berlin did get fairly flattened. The
looting was done by the Russians, whom we know have no morals. What?
Russia's our ally now? Crap. Revise. Berlin was looted by outlaw
elements of the Russian Army. Americans, of course, touched nothing.

Actually I'll admit I don't know if looting circa 1945 was obviously
as rampant as in Baghdad. I wasn't around at the time (not in this
incarnation) and media coverage in 1945 wasn't quite as pervasive and
invasive as now. No CNN, Fox, etc. There probably was looting on some
scale. Certainly the Nazis did a good job of looting before and during
the war.

(Waiting for someone to say that if Jews had remained in Berlin,
there'd have been looting and then a sidewalk sale - big discounts!)
