Oh, hey. I like sitting in a sidewalk cafe drinking red wine and
talking about death as much as the next girl. And I don't smoke
cigarettes (though I will smoke a cigar on occasion).

My view of human nature isn't dark--but neither do I believe in
innate goodness (or, heaven forfend, human perfectability). And I
do not, in particular, believe the U.S. and the U.K. should be
judged by standards that are too much higher than those of other
countries (a little higher--hey, sure).
