I'm breaking my communication blackout briefly to spread the word
that practically everything has changed for us!
1st, we've moved. We bought a great little house in Woodland Hills
and have embarked on a complete remodel. The neighborhood is
fantastic, and the house has great (though rather small) bones, but
the inside was sad. All of the doors and just about every piece of
trim in the house had to be replaced, the beautiful hardwood floors
were hiding under 50 years of scratches and stains, the bathrooms
are in need of some serious work, and the kitchen has been gutted to
make way for a new layout & new furnishings. The address is:
5320 Tendilla Avenue
Woodland Hills, CA 91364
(818) 883-7055
BTW, David, our house is actually right on your way home from work
(congrats!).
Our goal is to get all the work completed in time to have some sort
of a housewarming/open house in August.
2nd, Connor will be starting Kindergarten in the fall, which scares
us a little. Ian will also start at a new preschool (the one that
they were going to is MUCH too far) that is very close to home.
3rd, I've gone as far as I can go at CSUN and will be starting at UC
Santa Barbara in the fall. I received a VERY nice interdisciplinary
fellowship that's funded by the NSF to study multimedia within the
scope of the Cognition & Perception PhD program. So, I'll be
spending the next 5 years commuting even farther than David. I'm
also going to continue to teach at Moorpark College.
For those of you that know my family, Rob is back from Iraq and has
submitted the paperwork to retire from the Corp. This last combat
situation just put him over the edge. Some of the pictures that he
and his fellow Marines have shot are really disturbing. He did,
however, make it back in time for my little brother's wedding --
something we thought was not going to happen. My parents are very
happy living in their RV at Lake O'Neal in Camp Pendelton. Dad is
working part time as a Ranger, which keeps him busy enough to stay
sane and pays enough to cover the space rental.
Damon's company just seems to do better and better each year. One of
their largest customers these days is a company that owns several
brands of alchohol, including Cuervo & Baily's. He's managed a few
great perks from that relationship.
Anyway, sorry to be so long-winded. Just thought I'd share.
