To George W. Bush: Fuck Off
While I am not surprised that Bush has announced his support for a constitutional amendment making same sex marriage illegal, I HAVE been amazed at my own level of vitriol toward the man.
But he says that the American people have spoken. Hey, dickface.... I am not heterosexual, and I am ONE of the American people.
I vote. I pay taxes. I am one of the people that you claim to be defending from al-Queda, but you have just given and others like me the Finger. I am not really welcome in my own country. At best I am "TOLERATED"
Well, fuck that and fuck you GWB.
Bush stands for one thing. The power of that of which he represents, and he does not represent me. Oh great, he would defend me from Osama. Pretty low standards, I say. Bush prefers me to a mass murderer. Gee, thanks.
Bush may not even really care all that much about gay marriage. But he does care that he has found one thing that may give him the support, if not the love, of the red state people, and cause headaches for John Kerry. And may help him win over blue collar Catholics in the Industrial Midwest, and maybe the Hispanic Southwest....all of whom he is screwing over in every other conceivable way as their jobs are outsourced, their health coverage cutback, their kids schools are decimated, their aged parents Medicare is made useless, and their neighborhoods are polluted and crowded in the name of short-term greed.
But sew up Fear of the Faggots, and you just may get Mr. and Mrs. America to forget how they are being truly screwed.
I know.. I know, Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act ( DOMA). Kerry and Edwards do not support gay marriage either, ( they at least support civil unions) . Well, just because someone does not take a suicidal political stand does not mean he is not worthy of my support. And for the record, like Barney Frank, I thought that S.F Mayor's Gavin Newsome's actions, while gutsy, were perhaps a little ill-timed.
But this goes way beyond any statute like the DOMA. This is the freakin' Constitution....and that is nearly sacred. You are talking about putting discrimination, and yes...hate, into the Constitution, the highest law of our land. That has not been the case since slavery was abolished.
I am heartened that the odds that it will pass are slim, and that is how the Founders intended it. And even a few Republicans have come out against it.
But, the task is clear. George Bush is a miserable dangerous man. He must be defeated. He is worse than Reagan, worse than his father. Maybe even worse than Nixon.
In the name of all goodwill and all that is good about America, this amendment and Bush must be defeated.
And I will say it again.
Fuck you, George W. Bush
