Congratulations on your new job, David.
:-)
But please don't be so quick to put it down as 'boring'. Granted,
working for a financial printing company doesn't sound glamorous. But
who knows? Give it a few months!
I remember how people would initially be impressed when I told them
that I worked for a company that did speech recogition. Wow - Just
like Star Trek!! You talk to computers, and they talk back! Little did
they know about the excessive overtime hours and hard work involved...
Our office looked more like someone's garage with all the equipment
everywhere. It took forever to get a coffee pot setup - there was no
running water. Glamorous it wasn't.
Now I work for a company which looks at international investing. On
the face of it, the subject of 'investments' might sound more boring
than speech recogition. Except that it is (in my opinion) very
interesting: I look at the effects of economies on international
currencies, whether in Europe or the Pacific Rim. I do heavy-duty
analysis, just like before, but in much better comfort and for more
money. Heck, our office even has a weight room and a large kitchen.
Just my two cents.
