The horrible thing is, the strategy appears to have worked. Many Spaniards
appear to have decided that the attacks were revenge for their involvement
in Iraq (that's certainly what at least one Muslim fundamentalist group
claimed), and when the elections were held a lot more people voted
Socialist--in other words, voted for the party the Islamo-fascists would
most like to see in power.

It makes me gravely concerned about any possible attacks here in the month
before our election.

You are making two mistakes here.

1. You are thinking rationally. These people don't.

2. They don't want "sympathy for their cause" . They simply want to kill
