RE: Re: The great French Fry debacle
Now there's another food - olives. They're POISONOUS when raw. Who figured
out that soaking them in brine made them into food? Pickles cucumbers,
aren't they? They can be eaten raw they just are more interesting pickled.
Potato and tomato are in the nightshade family so you need to exercise a bit
of care. Pop-Eyes or KFC? Ick, I don't like either one. Zankou... now...
ah! Food of the gods. But they have no french fries. The only thing fried
there is falafel and I always go for the chicken.

Dunno about the "can't be eaten" part. I know you're not supposed to
eat potato LEAVES, nor any part of the potato that is green (exposed
to sunlight while growing). Something about the chemical combination
that makes it bad for you. What bugs me is, they also included
"cured" (brine?) veggies, which I assume includes pickles and soaked
olives. Ya call that fresh?
I've tried nibbling a raw potato, the one time they actually grew in
the garden. Tastes like...raw potato. (And all the organic magazines
rave about the incredible taste difference between store-bought, etc.)
Battered? Try Popeye's. Or KFC. It's rather bloody obvious at those
places.
