Re: Re: Topic for discussion: getting along

I love to compare perspectives with people; it's intellectually
bracing and serves as a good check on one's beliefs. If nothing
else, one has to account (at least to oneself) as to how/why one
came to the conclusions one did. [If ever a paragraph needed to
be re-cast, that one does. But I'll let it stand, "ones" and
all.]

My only problem is that I run out of time. I do think it's rare that
we change each other's minds, but it doesn't hurt to compare
points of view.

It is annoying when everyone at media events and publishing/entertainment
parties assumes one is an economic liberal and against the war in
Iraq (and a Democrat), but this is L.A. They are just playing the
odds.

I know that I do not answer all the "blurbs" that go by.

Why? Unfortunately, there are times when there is no point: Someone
will have an opinion and state it. I might disagree. I can then argue
back and forth with them, and get nowhere. This has happened a lot.

So, where to go from here? I for one allow others to have different
opinions. It's not my job to change that. And as long as people allow
me the same, then I hope it's all okay.

Note: A difference of opinion should not always be viewed as an attack.
