'Nuther history lesson for the newbies. The Olives used to take
yearly cabin trips lasting up to a week somewhere in the mountains.
(It used to be twice yearly - summer & winter vacation while still in
school and fewer professional-type jobs to go around.) Idyllwilde was
the most frequented spot, until recently when we had the good fortune
to stumble across a new Olive whose family owned a cabin at Lake
Arrowhead. Then it was Presidents' Day weekend. But that's kind of
diminishing, too.

The winter trips usually involved sledding, long hikes, and snowman...
.er...people, um creating. (We are a very liberal minded crowd and
don't always do the typical things one would expect with snow.) And
there was always tons of terrific food. Everybody brought something,
and there was often fresh bread or a good soup or at least a few boxes
of chocolate Pop Tarts, and the occasional exotic dish. I remember
QM's incredibly spicy couscous, Tschibasch's ropa vieja and homemade
lasagna, Barky's fresh breads...

Um, hey guys? Let's go on another cabin trip again!
