Memo to self: Any total stranger wanting "to give money to a charity" gets
no good faith money from me. Any total stranger wanting to hand me 50K is
either dangerously shady or gonzo mad. The most I might do is try to figure
out if there's a South African embassy in L.A. and try to get in touch with
it for her, which would naturally chase off anyone like that. Man, that
whole thing sounds so fake it's ridiculous. Am I a complete paranoid or
doesn't that whole story stink like week old fish?
I have given a ride to a total stranger, one who didn't speak much English,
but she also seemed harmless. Actually, the poor woman probably WAS
harmless. If I understood her right the cops picked her up to ask
questions, dropped her off where they found her when done, but it was late
and the busses weren't running where she needed to go. So I drove her home.
Or at least where she wanted to go. Shrug; easy to do.
