MEA CULPA

Okay, okay, as some of you have by now suspected, I played another
prank. And rather than letting it go on for months, as I usually do, I
have decided to 'fess up and stop now.

The alleged messages from "Alex Melnick" are in fact from me. It was
part of my never-ending master plan to confuse and annoy people.
Creating this fiction about Alex working at a bookstore was easy, as
this seemed a reasonable thing for him to do. Alex likes books! Why
not? I decided to make it more interesting by saying that he lives in
Fullerton (yet works in Anaheim...)

I crafted together photographs from all over the Internet to create
"Alex" and his cat "Bob", and even the wedding for "Robin". It's true!
If you take a good close look at Alex's cat you will see that it is
really one of Carlye's.

The very first post raised suspicions. The subject line of "Uh,
hello?" sounded a little too much like an imitation. In spite of this,
it still seemed to work. People were answering this message...

Subsequent posts have been more difficult to muster. And just what I
am to do if someone goes to Fullerton? They'll discover the hoax!

So, anyway, it's not really Alex. And again, I am sorry. I couldn't
help myself.
