Indeed.

And nobody puts down Klingonists better than other Klingonists. Around
1996 there was a major effort put underway to translate all of
Shakespeare's works into the "original" Klingon. (You must see one of
the Star Trek movies to get the reference...)

This was a major undertaking, of course. Imagine: All this translating
done by a bunch of super-intelligent geeky people in their spare time,
working on different paragraphs apiece, mostly on Apple computers...
The finished products are rendered into beautiful leather-bound books
and sold to eager fans.

Um, well, this is what I heard, anyway. ;-)

About the same time a splinter group of Rogue Klingonists had a rather
different interpretation of the Klingon language. This group decided
to make their own translations of the Bard's plays. The "Standard
Group" was absolutely *furious* when they found out that the "Rogue
Group" were starting with Hamlet!!

I received a letter from the "Standard Group" telling me how upset
they were, and how I must never buy any of these books. I still have
this letter!
