I think our president would fail miserably.

I think of it, like I think of all tests, as something to let me know what I
should read up on. I did badly on the presidential trivia (I neither know
nor care which one was born in Texas) I did miss two of the assassinated
presidents and one of the impeached, which tells me I should look for some
good history books spanning the periods in question. If I can find them.
That era is one I haven't read much about. The amendments I also did poorly
on and those are more important and I should read up more on them and their
background.

The test does not judge character, it does test basic knowledge of the
structure of our federal government and some of the history of the country
which are things we all ought to know. People who decide to get citizenship
often know a great deal more about the country's history and its
governmental structure than the natives and this is sad, because we ALL
should know it, it's part of our own history and national identity and we're
abdicating it.

Is that to imply that knowing if people knew the answers to these
questions they would have the ability to make good community based
decisions and treat other human beings well? i have a feeling our
president could answer them all correctly and he's not doing so hot
in the shaping of America.
