And more S.o.M. trivia from the actual S.o.M. tour in Salzburg (that I
dragged Debbie along):

The Trapps didn't go gallumphing over the hills to escape. That
would've taken them smack into Germany. Instead they took a train
since the depot was very close to their home.

Maria wasn't quite the naive nun-in-training as she is portrayed. She
was highly educated from a well-to-do family. In fact, Eleanor Parker
would've been a more realistic Maria than Julie Andrews.

Some of the locations in S.o.M. also show up in "The Great Race". No
surprise since Blake Edwards who made "The Great Race" was married to
Julie Andrews (lucky bastard!) and both were present.

The wedding chapel wasn't in Salzburg but a bit aways. It takes a neat
train ride to get to it.

And...well...I highly suggest you-all travel to Salzburg and take the
S.o.M. tour and the salt mine tour.

If you need an expert guide, I am available for a nominal fee. In
fact, if you need travel aide with any part of Europe, do not hesitate
to ask for my "Platinum Service - Europe", all part of the OzzyTravel
Service (*).
