I expect to be finished with the first draft of my murder mystery by
Halloween. Some of the chapters will still suck, but I expect to have
an unbroken narrative at that point; problems can be fixed in second
and third (and fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh) drafts.

Still, some of the beginning and ending chapters should be reasonably
polished, and I think it would be reasonable to try to get
representation circa December/January, using sample chapters and my
outline. If anyone knows anyone who handles crime fiction, please let
me know. (This thing is probably at the median point on the tea
cozy-to-mean streets continuum, and I'm trying to write a novel that
would stand alone even if there weren't a dead body in it. There is a
love interest, contra some old rules about these things, and the tale
starts out with a lot of conversation and ends up with people waving
guns around. Our heroine is a plucky tall woman with a photographic
memory and a prudish streak; there are too many clever/sardonic
characters in the narrative.)

Really, enough about me. What do YOU think of the chances that this
thing will Really Sell?
