The preacher's name was Jed Smock, and I believe his crass, bigoted and hateful ranting turned me (and countless other students) OFF to the *Good News* for years. It took me a long time to discover Christians like Thomas Merton and G.K. Chesterton, who are to that guy what Beethoven and Mozart are to GG Allin.

At the time, I thought Paul was funny as hell. Now, I believe he just represents an even nastier and more vapid form of self-loathing and barely-concealed misanthropy.
