Too bad John's going to miss it because of his death wish.

It would be a shame if he were the subject of unkind gossip on that
trip. I would most certainly hate to see something like that occur.

And, of course, he wouldn't be doing much cooking if he went to Asia,
so we wouldn't have the benefit of the usual wonderful Turley dinner.
In an immature group, that fact alone could certainly lead to gossip,
so I'm hoping no chain of events starts off in *that* direction. I'll
certainly try to lead conversation away from John's, um, refreshing
decision to get arrested in North Korea trying to buy a uniform,
rather than joining us in a snow-shrouded cabin to drink red wine,
whiskey, beer and vodka, have great food, and lounge by a fireplace.

Oh--and, of course he'dmiss the snow-hermaphrodite, and the sledding.
And the making of videos and possibly a short film. All gone, if he
were to go ahead with his lame-o plan.

And of course he won't even be able to videotape his exciting
experiences in a North Korean jail, since the first thing they'll
confiscate and destroy will be all his photo/video equipment.

But we will remember him with a toast, and argue quietly about whether
it would be better for him to be jailed and killed toward the
beginning of his trip, or toward the end.
