Cabinned out

That was fun. Let's do it again soon!
The cabin was rightly called "The Mansion". All it needed was a ghost
wandering the darkened halls. Just kidding. Actually the place was
stucco white and didn't belong in the mountains at all. It was
sterile (tho not impotent, according to Ozzy). The bedrooms were
HUGE! We could fit almost our whole house in the master suite (which
we, of course, honestly deserved for so much hard work at acquiring
the cabin itself.) Master suite - second master - third bedroom -
kid's room (5 beds plus pull-out, more like a dorm than a bedroom) -
and what we called "the hotel room" which was an attached
bedroom-bath-minikitchen ('fridge, microwave, etc) with it's own keyed
entry. Then there was the "Conference/Game Room" which had wonderful
views and nice privacy (but rotten heating, if you wanted to use it
for sleeping).

14 people came up: the Ozzies, the Halls, DC **AND*** Carlye (YAY!),
Joy (but not McCann), JJT **AND** Bibiana. There was so much room we
had no problems either congregating in a single room, or finding a
private place to oneself. The kitchen was nicely laid out (but poorly
organized), and the big screen TV was quite nice. Easy access to the
back of the TV to connect DC's video camera to review the day's
filming. We stayed up past 2 am Friday just sipping hot chocolate
(and other things) and talking. It was great.

No snow when we got up, except for a couple of inches in the Very Tall
driveway, but which was just enough for sledding the next morning.
(What Are You Brats Doing Up At 7:00 In The Morning?!?!?!?) We walked
into town the first day, and went up to Mt Pinos the second day. A
nice lazy Monday where the owner said we could stay past 2 pm if we
wanted to. The biggest problem was the final cleanup, especially
since we were supposed to leave our shoes in the foyer so as not to
track stuff all over the nice white rugs.

Anyway, it was nice to have no stress except keeping the kids off the
ceiling. WAY too much to eat, and all of the homemade stuff was
fantastic (thanks JJT, Joy, Carlye for the special meals: chicken with
plums, breakfast quesadillas, roast beef and quiche, and vegetarian
omelets.). I even managed to bake a loaf or two of cranberry-soda
bread which turned out ok.

Three, no FOUR laptops did keep the kids mostly out of harm's way,
although I may try to keep their computer use more limited on a future
vacation.

I wonder if we can manage to get the same "cabin" for summertime?
