I actually loaned my film camera to someone a few years ago, since there are
still people using super-8mm equipment. The film, however, is another story,
considering the difficulty and the expense of getting the film cartridges and
the time it takes to send it away for processing. To add insult to injury,
they've just discontinued Kodachrome:

There is a lab in Hollywood that still makes 8mm film cartridges by cutting
professional 35mm film into strips, then offers processing and telecine
services to bring it into the digital world:
