Re: SMC lab job

Thank you for the suggestion, Barby.

I am still new to all of this! Spreading my talents around? I don't
know where to go or whom to ask. My connection to SMC was only
through people I was already tutoring, and it gave me some sense of
where to go and ask if they needed help.

After asking, I heard nothing for three weeks.

Then suddenly SMC went a little crazy and started putting serious
demands on my time! This was after they were convinced that I could
tutor in so many languages. They cannot pay a dime, since they say
that there were more cutbacks this year than expected. (Strange,
since they are putting in new buildings all over the campus....
Sounds like UCLA!)

The other tutors are volunteers like myself. Two of them have now
left, and a third may also go, since I can do their languages. They
were happy to go since the leave extends their summer vacations.

I have made it clear to SMC that I am more than willing to commit the
time they are asking for, until I get a "real" job which could pay my
rent. ;-)
