John,
I wouldn't recommend offering to work for free, even though you've got
the time for it. Anyone would take advantage of an offer like
that, no matter how altruistic they are! Ask for something, anything,
no matter how small. Perhaps free computer use between help sessions,
so you can continue searching online for a job? Definitely ask to use
their job placement facilities/resources. Perhaps they'd give
you teachers' lounge and refrigerator privileges? A discount at the
student store? Sit in on an interesting class or two for free? You
are a valuable asset to the college and should at least receive some
recognition, if not direct payment!
