Well, the great thing about this state is Gray Davis adding 45,000 new jobs
in the past few years, and then having to eliminate languages from SMC and
raise taxes. They've been spending like drunken sailors, and now have to cut
back on basics--and triple the fees on car registrations.

As for the nation--"the nation is strong." (*Preach* it.)

And, Lenny--the Euros can afford to be more civilized than we, since they
know we'll always protect them--even the damned French, who sold nuclear
technology to Saddam in the first place. As far as that whole continent is
concerned, we exist to get them out of their scrapes.

Something about the French and collaboration . . . after all, this isn't the
first time they've cozied up to the Germans.

TELL me about it.

After all the trouble I went through to get my job back....now this crap
about budget cutbacks...I think I will be OK... I hope

But don't get me started....

The priorities of this state, not to mention this nation, are appalling....

Sorry, but I have to say it again...The Europeans are more civilized than we
are.

I would (unfortunately) have to agree with Barbie's assessment about
California's cutbacks in the schools. While tutoring at SMC during
the Fall Quarter, I saw where things were heading: I left in November
to start a 'real job', and was told that Winter Quarter would be
devoid of foreign languages, so my skills would not be needed. If I
wanted to come back, the best time to check would be in Spring.
