America's Top Model, Tuesdays at 9?

They just had the second episode last night.

Very entertaining, actually.

Poor Katie got voted off last night for being too conventionally hot (imagine a slimmer, dainter-featured Salma Hayek). Turns out she did "Playboy" once.

I liked Elyse and Ebony the best right off the bat, because they're both so unusual. Elyse is a waify militant atheist, pre-med, with spiky dyed-black hair and big pale eyes. She looks a bit like Enya or Winona Ryder on a starvation diet. Ebony is a bald muscular black lesbian from New York City with big dark eyes - think Grace Jones but more fun. Both of these two get a lot of interview time, maybe because they're unusual personally, &/or have strong personalities, or maybe because they're probably the two most unusual looking. This week, they both went on rants that didn't make them seem quite as nice, but were highly entertaining. But I'd say now I also like Adrienne. Adrienne is a smoker, smoker-voiced bad girl, who looks like she belongs in those ads where they're all partying with heavy mascara smudges under their eyes. She was annoying Elyse by continually quoting Jay and Silent Bob.

Fourth I'd put Giselle, who seems bubbly and I like the fact that she has this mole on her nose. Robin is completely annoying, but I like that she's a "plus size" (yeah, right! Not an ounce of fat I can see - it all looks like muscle - she looks like the average woman with a good body) and "old" (26!), and she does have a certain spark when she is modelling - even though I can't stand her otherwise. Robin, Kesse and (I think) Shannon have a Bible study group going in the hotel suite, and Robin is a preacher type, who this week was baiting both Elyse and Ebony over different things. I think I know which California Blonde (not that they're actually from here, they just have that look) is which - I think the curly-haired one with the horse teeth who's a Christian virgin is Shannon, and that the straight-haired one is Nicole (I remember nothing else about Nicole, but she may be the one who, next week, it's hinted, doesn't want to do the photo shoot with snakes). Kesse (spelling?) looks sort of pinch-faced to me, but not in her posed photos. I suppose the high forehead, features all together look works for Christina Ricci, but Christina's more interesting looking, in my opinion - though the comment was made by more than one person on the show that they thought Kesse looked like Tyra Banks, who is the host.

They're all tall - 5'9" to 5'11". Elyse is the thinnest at about 112; Robin is the heaviest at 165. The rest mostly weigh in the lower 130s. Elyse and Adrienne are light-eyed brunettes, Shannon and Nicole are golden blondes, Ebony, Kesse and Robin are black, and Giselle (and Katie, before last night) are Hispanic, I think.

I forget who got voted off the first week, but among the 12 other semi-finalists who didn't make the "come to New York" cut, the standouts in my mind were the dirt-poor black girl who I felt bad for (like she and her 4-5 siblings were neglected and raised in foster care type poor!), and one horribly annoying bleach-platinum-blonde with dark eyes who insisted she knew she was better than all the other girls, and that her mother called her every day to tell her how much better she was than the rest of the world.
