Re: The Great CA-CA Debate
For a few cents more:
1) Arnie: If you believe that confidence and apparent determination
alone can make someone a successful governor, Arnie picked up some
points. If you think you should have the slightest clue how
government works, experience, or any concrete plans, I don't think he
did.
2) McClintock: Solid debater, no compromise, hard line conservative.
Of course, he's wrong on 80% of his ideas from my left of center
P.o.V.
3) Camejo: Along with McClintock, the best performance of the night,
though he's certainly not a natural debater. The far left and far
right seemed to have the best night (and, amusingly, agreed on
several points).
4) Arianna: Did the gadfly act -- though she's been better. Annoyed
the heck out of everyone (including me -- and I generally like her as
a commentator), but made a few decent points. I just wish she'd
said "We don't want a Governor Gangbang" -- that would have topped
the night.
5) Bustamente: Strategically took the "I'm staying above the fray"
approach with mixed results. Seemed way too passive at times, and
didn't make much of a case for himself until his conclusion. But he
also didn't look silly like Arnold and Arianna sometimes did in their
sniping, and seemed to be working hardest toward compromise, which is
a useful skill. That said, the whole donations scandal and the stain
of Davis really hurt him.
