For the record, I now have John's original e-mail. (Keith and Dean were
the excellent record-keepers who still had it.)
I did remember that we had the article on the site, but I wanted to
refer to the first version of the story. Sure enough, I had gotten a
few details wrong in my initial draft of the essay. Fortunately, DJQ
tells me I'm not in any particular danger of Alzheimer's . . . but
rather, in my 40s. So I got that going for me.
