*AN AMERICAN CAROL* box-office irregularities much more WIDESPREAD than previously imagined!

The Allegations:

* People are being sold tickets for movies other than An American Carol,
which most of us are too busy to check--either to save the theater money or
to depress AAC's box-office numbers;

* Theaters are implying that the movie is rated R (its real rating is
PG-13);

* Posters are not visible for this movie inside or outside of the cineplexes
where it's being shown;

* The marquees outside theatres where AAC is playing don't list it;

* Box offices don't even list the movie on the boards behind the clerks,
where one usually sees the titles and showtimes of the films for the day;

* People are unable to buy tickets for this movie online;

* Cineplexes leave outgoing messages with showtimes for every movie they are
playing that day . . . except An American Carol;

* Mysterious problems with sound and image quality plague the movie, and
don't seem to get corrected even when management is alerted.

I'm not against movie houses refusing to carry films they don't want to
carry. But if a cineplex has agreed to show a particular film, I think it's
in poor taste for the employees of that theatre to sabotage the movie just
because they don't agree with its message.

If I can't find a book in a bookstore, I just go home and order it from
Amazon. But if I can't see a movie that is in current release because the
theatre employees took the posters down or didn't give showtimes over the
telephone, or left it off the marquee, that appears to me to be a more
serious matter, and one that the theaters involved should be looking into.
