I was turned on to poetry by my mom, who is a scientist with mathematical
dexterity. I think she got that there was a level of beauty in language that
she could only see "through a glass darkly." So she plied me with poetry
records and books when I was very young.
Which is sort of like giving crack to a youngster, but she didn't know any
better.
