Thank you, Elena, and it's true. She'd been hoping to die within the year, and
so it transpired. Bad recoveries and torn stitches after a pair of surgeries a
few years ago left her herneated with sporadic internal bleeding. At 71,
repairing it would have been quite risky and painful according to her surgeon.
So yes, this was absolutely the best time, place and way to go. The memorial
dinner was really upbeat and more a celebration of her life than a mourning.
Also, death in the family encourages reunion and closeness, so it's not all
bad.
It's been quite the adventure in the Ozarks.
