A better way to vote

Ok, I've been trying to figure out a better way to vote. One person-
one vote is great, except when two parties are so strong that third
party candidates haven't a whelk's chance in a supernova. How about
this:

Two votes per person: the primary vote and the secondary vote. First
thing after an election, you count up only the primary votes. If none
of the candidates gets a Majority (>50%) of the vote, then the
secondary votes are added in. So technically you could vote for the
same candidate twice. Or you could vote for a third party candidate
as your primary vote and a major candidate for your secondary vote.
If total votes still don't produce a Majority winner, then it's time
to throw out all the candidates and start all over. Maximum campaign
time = 2 weeks.

Oh, one more thing. NO advertisements for one solid week before
elections. And NO newscaster predictions until EVERY SINGLE STATE
poll has closed for the night.
